If we had all voted for our own best interests, Dr. Jill Stein should have won in a landslide. 75% of voters claimed to be looking at a Third Party and Dr. Stein remains, far and above, the best choice. And there are more of us (99%) than there are of them. (1%)
Progressives have shut down a couple wars in the past half century, but we passed on a chance to shut down more than 25 simultaneous and unnecessary wars of aggression against nations who did not attack us.
If Stein had been allowed to debate Trump and Clinton, she could have won by telling truths which many find too terrible to bear. The American people are real tired of 36 years of avoidable wars, but the corporate press is determined that no truths be uttered. We had a chance to stand up and let the military-industrial profiteers know we’re not gonna take it anymore. We could have demanded that our government secure the peace so we can end this nightmare by remembering our dreams.
But with Trump, the American people get eight more years of 27 simultaneous wars and increasing aggression, which economists predict will bankrupt the nation between 2020 and 2030. There is no good reason to just let this happen.
With Dr. Stein and The Green New Deal, we had a chance to shut down 25 wars of choice and rebuild the nation with full employment. We could have implemented a $15 dollar minimum wage, delivered universal nonprofit health care, guaranteed a college education for every citizen and unburden generations by erasing student debt.
Real debates could have made it clear that securing the peace is victory and surrendering to eight more years of wars is a recipe for disaster.
Truths about the consequences of spending trillions to kill millions for billionaires will remain hidden, so that we do not fire up the American people. Most people are ready for a Green New Deal: rebuilding infrastructure, restoration of civil rights, securing the peace and jobs with justice. But too many do not vote or vote their fears instead of their values. Now we can think about what we have done while Trump unravels what is left of the nation. A sadness.
If we hope to survive, we must insist that the health of the planet and her people come before profits… because we are the only game in town.Truth has power. A stunning coalition is growing right now, in the stark reality of an administration dedicated to racism, misogyny, intolerance and hate.
“This coalition is building: 31 million Americans who want health care, 40 million Americans who want their student debt erased. 70 million students who want free K-16 education. These good people can band together with 5 million Americans who lost their homes to banks and 3 million Americans used and abused in corporate wars of choice. And what will turn the tide is the 80% of Americans who are in debt and tired of seeing banks and Wall Street bailed out while Main Street gets sold out.”
The American people, in our new interconnected reality, are waking up.
“During a 70 year piece of time, we fought wars with 30 nations, one or two at a time, for no particularly compelling reasons.
NONE of these countries attacked America.
But in the last eight years, with aggressive military conquests against smaller and less powerful nations, we are now fighting 27 simultaneous wars of choice. And we have been building an empire based on more than 800 offensive military outposts in more than 136 nations. We sell arms to both sides of artificial conflicts sponsored by the CIA and/or the Pentagon. This increasing and expanding empire, selling unending wars for profit, can only bankrupt the nation. Bankruptcy, coffins and chaos will not take eight years. Flogging the dead horse of wars for profit won’t work.
