D) ACTION: BE THE MEDIA.. SPREAD LOCALLY

We need everyone to plan and organize actions with other groups/individuals locally to strategically plan how to get this info into your communities. This is likely the only way most people will learn about this issue as most news papers/TV stations are owned by 6 corporations that would benefit from the TPP.

1) Canvass neighborhoods door to door with flyers, car windows in parking lots, hand out at public events, busy shopping areas, anywhere there are people, etc.

2) Enlist STUDENTS, sports teams, etc. who are home on break.
Make it fun. Have a gathering/party afterwards.

3) Enlist groups to help: teachers, nurses, IT/accounting/
engineering students (whose jobs will be shipped overseas),
Boiler Makers/Carpenters and other unions, retirees, internet geeks, environmentalists, veterans, animal activists, etc. TPP would affect
us all and would drive our country in to austerity: 3rd world conditions…
this is dead serious.

PLAN HOW TO CANVAS WITH COMMUNITY FLYERS

Ask everyone who receives a flyer to go make more COPIES to carry with them to hand out and leave places. Ask that they also tell others to do the same. Please, repeat this action over and over to get this info out!

4) OPEN A LOCAL EVENT PAGE
Google “how to” if you do not know how to make an event page on Face Book. Invite everyone.

IF YOU DO A SIMPLE RALLY TYPE EVENT

– a rally in a public place build your community of activists
– stretch the demonstrations along a public sidewalk far enough apart so passing vehicle has time to read the signs
– pass out flyers (most important… get info out and build a way for your community to communicate.)
Or
-utilize your city’s “free speech zone.” This is not about confrontation regarding our first amendment rights, its about getting the word out quickly. You should not have to deal with permits (for side-walks). DO alert your local police department well-ahead so they know what you are doing is organized and peaceful. (They are usually good about this if they know what you are doing.)

F) WHY PARTICIPATE?

It is time for Americans to RALLY to demand the US Congress stands with “We the People” by performing their job as outlined in the Constitution* and working for the benefit of ALL citizens, not the benefit of multi/trans-national corporations.

The Obama administration wants congress to give him Fast Track (Trade Promotion Authority) so he can ram into law disastrous corporate-biased legislation. Fast Track and the TPP is being supported by congress members from both parties who seem to be bought-off by the corps.

The TPP was written in secret by over 600 corporate advisers over five years. The TPP is masquerading as a free “trade” agreement that will destroy our national sovereignty, totally destroy our limping economy, and basically make us all slaves to the multi-national corporations and the USA a third world country.

FAST TRACK OVERVIEW
* US Constitution, Article 1, Section 8 gives authority to the US Congress to negotiate trade with foreign Nations. It does not give it to the Executive Branch.
In recent history, the Executive Branch has taken it upon itself to negotiate trade agreements and then have the US Congress approve them. First instituted by Reagan, Fast Track was a tool granted the Executive Branch to negotiate international trade agreements and then have Congress approve or disapprove with limited time for review, very little debate and absolutely no amendments. It’s a take or leave it scenario. This is how NAFTA was passed by Clinton.

The Trans Pacific Partnership Agree is NAFTA on Steroids. It must be stopped. Obama, trade representatives of participating nations and 600 corporate advisers have been negotiating in secret for 4 years and have NOT kept our Congress notified of draft negotiations. This is totally unacceptable. Newly Wikileaked text from Nov. 13 shows they are hiding many harmful provisions.
