Although Sanders may have once been a socialist back in the 80s when he was Mayor of Burlington, he is not a socialist today. Instead, he is a conservative pretending to be a liberal. Sanders backed all of Obama’s nasty wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen… along with Israeli aggression in Gaza and corporate war-profiteering at home. And with Trump in charge, Sanders continues to vote for wars of aggression. This is not working and wasting trillions, killing millions for billionaires makes peace and investments in people, infrastructure and planet… impossible. dra, otothis et
“The attack on Kosovo is hardly the extent of Sanders’ hawkishness. While it’s true he voted against the Iraq War, he also voted in favor of authorizing funds for that war and the one in Afghanistan. More recently, he voted in favor of a $1 billion aid package for the coup government Ukraine and supported Israel’s assault on Gaza.”
“The decision by Sanders to seek the Democratic Party nomination for president is the culmination of a protracted process over four decades, during which Sanders, despite never formally belonging to the Democratic Party, never ventured beyond what passes for the party’s “left” flank, using the term “socialist” only to suggest an illusory difference with his (infrequent) Democratic Party challengers.
His role in the campaign will be use his reputation as a politician of the “left” to disguise the ever more right-wing orientation of the Democratic Party: its abandonment of even a nominal commitment to social reform, its embrace of war, assassination, mass surveillance and an increasingly dictatorial role for the American imperialist state, both internationally and at home.”

Let’s not be fooled by “progressives” who can’t find their spines when the colonial regime in Israel bombs the crowded ghetto of Gaza.

Independent political action against the corporate state is the single most important issue, not only in every big election but also in day to day resistance against capitalism and militarism. Otherwise every other issue of great importance— yes, including fossil fuels and climate change, the militarization of police departments, the ruling class war of attrition against the working class— will gain no traction. In class struggles, there is a law of nature: No friction, no traction. Not one cent and not one vote for the parties of war and empire.

We spend trillions fighting avoidable wars chosen by advocates on one side or another of the corporate aisle. Most of the biggest players (like the 16 big guys who make billions and pay no taxes) are savvy enough to pay off both corporate parties to hedge their bets.
Our only option is to pay attention. Between 60 and 75% of the voting public say, at this point, they are ready and willing to seriously consider a third party. This is good and bad.
The bad part is Bernie Sanders will rope people into the lesser evil myth (with a blind eye to Israeli and corporate aggression.) The truths he will tell about banks are useful, but when he folded up his tent and supported Hillary, we were left in the lurch with nothing but Clinton, Bush and Trump…
But we have a bird in the hand!
Dr. Jill Stein has a plan for revolutionary change. She wants to put everyday people back in charge. If the people who did not vote in 2016 vote for peace with Jill Stein in 2020… she can win. All this takes is courage.

Pingback: Dr. Stein is younger, more progressive and better-educated than Bernie Sanders. | The Wordsmith Collection
You’re right about Sanders, he’s more of the same, and like Obama, maybe even worse than that if given the chance, which he won’t. But I have to disagree with voting for Stein and the Green Party. I’m not sure about your assertion that she’ll be on 88% or whatever of ballots, but I am sure that third parties have no chance in this fraud of a democratic system we have. I believe we need to boycott the 2016 election except for state referendums and initiatives to send a message to the ruling class and the world that democracy in the U.S. is a fraud, an illusion, AND to withdraw consent to being governed by these psychopaths. IMO and many others, voting third party is still participating in a fraudulent and losing system. The only way to turn this around is to trash the system and create a new one. Relative to a boycott we’re talking potentially 70% of the country whereas Stein might get the usual 1%. Last election 67% of the voting public did not vote.

Giving up your vote is exactly what the right wing and mainstream media have spent billions to get you to do.

You can “disagree” all you want, but Stein will be on 85-88% of the ballots and when she exposes the corporate cons in the national debates we have three choices a Republican bragging about war, a Democrat lying about war or Jill Stein who will shut down the wars, rebuild the nation, fix our schools and help us create a future.
“A coalition is building: 31 million Americans who want health care, 40 million Americans who want their student debt erased. 70 million students in secondary school and college who want the opportunity for free K-12 education. 5 million Americans who lost their homes to banks. 3 million Americans used and abused in corporate wars of choice. And 80% of Americans who are in debt and tired of seeing banks bailed out and Main Street sold out.”
