Back in 2011, when everyday people, unions and social service organizations put together this anti war march, we were waging a global war in more than 70 nations. In 2010, U.S. Special Operations forces were deployed in 75 countries, up from 60 at the end of the Bush presidency. (picture by Kevin Smith)
By 2011, “In 120 countries across the globe, troops from Special Operations Command carry out their secret war of high-profile assassinations, low-level targeted killings, capture/kidnap operations, kick-down-the-door night raids, joint operations with foreign forces, and training missions with indigenous partners as part of a shadowy conflict unknown to most Americans.”

Now it is 2016 and these “secret wars” have only multiplied.
In 2015, “U.S. Special Operations forces have already deployed to 135 nations, according to Ken McGraw, a spokesman for Special Operations Command (SOCOM). That’s roughly 70% of the countries on the planet. Every day, in fact, America’s most elite troops are carrying out missions in 80 to 90 nations, practicing night raids or sometimes conducting them for real, engaging in sniper training or sometimes actually gunning down enemies from afar. As part of a global engagement strategy of endless hush-hush operations conducted on every continent but Antarctica, they have now eclipsed the number and range of special ops missions undertaken at the height of the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Do not surrender to eight more years of war with a Republican or a Democrat. We cannot afford to make this wrong choice. There are more of us than there are of them.
