PROHIBITIONS ON THE USE OF FORCE: Prohibitions

against the use of specific types of force should be explicitly spelled out, both

for absolute prohibitions and prohibitions except in very limited circumstances.

ANTECEDENTS TO THE USE OF FORCE:
Before any use of force,an officer must, if time, safety, and the facts and circumstances permit, providea verbal warning of the type of force to be used. If such a verbal warning is

issued, the officer must provide thesubject with time to comply. (See packet forfurther explanation.)•
