William Faulkner and life, writing, wilderness and creative arts
“I’ve heard people say, ‘If I could just stop doing this, I would be a writer.’ I don’t believe that. I think if you’re going to write you’re going to write, and nothing will stop you.”
~William Faulkner
Ralph was right twenty years ago… “Tweedledum and Tweedledee”
“When voters decide they will no longer be mistreated and summon candidates to their own citizen-powered debates, the dynamics behind the campaigns will shift toward the citizenry.”
Life, liberty, food, education, healthcare and affordable housing
“Some people are so afraid they cannot find the courage to debunk the junk and face facts. And increasing numbers don’t want to know truths which may be too terrible to bear.”
232-Mile ‘Hike the Pipe’ to Protest LNG Pipeline Starts Saturday
This Saturday, August 22, a group of activists who also oppose the LNG plant are starting a nearly month-long, 232-mile hike in protest along the proposed pipeline route. ‘Hike the Pipe’ starts in Malin—a tiny town located Southeast of Klamath Falls, just north of the Oregon-California border—and crosses the state to Coos Bay, with events planned along the way. A core group of five to 10 hikers will participate in the full hike, with opportunities to join them for day hikes and kayaking protests along the way.
Malcolm and Martin
“I’m for truth, no matter who tells it. I’m for justice, no matter who it is for or against. I’m a human being first and foremost, and as such I’m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.”― Malcolm X
Cops Refuse to Stop Chase: Multiple Children Killed during Pursuit
“[The police] were right on their rear, the police car bumped their tail a little bit, and the car flew up in the air,” the friend said. “There was no need for the police to be that close. I yelled ‘WATCH OUT’ but it was too late. When the car hit them, both of them just looked at me. They screamed. It just keeps re-playing in my head. … I ran down there, I yelled out their names, but they were gone. Makiah’s eyes were wide open, they died on impact.”
Black Lives Matter…
“Race doesn’t really exist for you because it has never been a barrier. Black folks don’t have that choice.”
― Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Americanah
Listen to Sandra Bland!
“…How many more young people are going to be killed for walking in the street, failing to signal a lane shift, looking a police officer in the eye, or playing with a toy gun? How many more names of Black men, women and young people will join the list of those whose deaths have sparked widespread protests: Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Tamir Rice, Freddie Gray, Renisha McBride, Aiyana Jones and Sakia Gunn, among many others – and now, Sandra Bland. “
